Dear %%$first%%,

Due to an overwhelming demand from our readers, we've EXTENDED THE DEADLINE for the Erasure Poetry Contest! So there's still time to compose your masterpiece. The words of your poem are already there: all you have to do is erase the excess.

New deadline: September 30, 2019, 11:59 pm PST.

There's $1000 in prizes to be won, as well as publication in Geist and at geist.com. Oh yes, and literary fame, too.

To enter the contest, carve your own poetic masterpiece from an excerpt of A Strange Manuscript Found in a Copper Cylinder by James De Mille, published by Harper & Brothers in 1888—erase letters, words and sentences until your own genius emerges.

Visit geist.com/erasure for more details and to read the excerpt.

Enter your poem online by clicking here. Or mail submissions, with payment and brief cover letter, to:

All entries must be postmarked no later than September 30, 2019.

Good luck and happy erasing!
